My story
Before becoming a therapist, I spent more than a decade working in higher education at institutions including Virginia Tech and the University of Rhode Island. During that time, I had the privilege of supporting many students, faculty, and staff who were struggling. After the COVID-19 pandemic, I felt called to make a change and pursue my passion for helping others as a licensed clinical social worker. I am currently under supervision with Stephanie Hewitt, LCSW at Clarity Counseling and Assessment, where I work with teens and adults with a wide range of diagnoses and life challenges.

I bring to this work years of experience teaching and mentoring, as well as serving my community. My life has been rich with both challenges and growth, and those experiences have deepened my empathy and drive to support clients on their healing journeys.

I hold a Master of Social Work (MSW) from the University of Kentucky, where I specialized in addiction and trauma informed counseling. I also have experience in palliative counseling and community mental health. I am also a proud veteran of the United States Army and understand firsthand the emotional and psychological toll that service can take on veterans and their families.

My therapeutic approach integrates evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). I especially enjoy working with individuals who have felt misunderstood or unseen by society. I operate from a strengths-based, trauma-informed perspective and believe that every person deserves to be listened to, understood, and cared for. My own lived experience with trauma and recovery allows me to bring genuine empathy, compassion, and authenticity to every session.
